Trends We Love: Ombre

From the french word meaning “shading” or “gradient”. And it is a hot trend right now. We can’t say we blame them. It’s a fabulous way to bring lots of color to a wedding.

Starting with the most important part of a wedding… the dress! As usual, singer Gwen Stefani was years ahead of this trend when she wore this gorgeous gown at her wedding.

Now there are many different ombre gown options for brides going the flashy route.

Finish off the look, or maybe you’d like to simply dress up a classic wedding gown, with a bright ombre bouquet.

Imagine your reception filled with these colorful centerpieces. The combination of colors are sure to bring life to any venue you choose.

Not to mention, the sweet guest of honor.

And of course, you must start the theme rolling with an amazing custom wedding invitation.

Celebrating an Anniversary in Disney World

By Sarah “Living Seas Bride”

My husband and I knew that we wanted to celebrate our fifth anniversary in Disney and knew we wanted to do something different.Ā  We had celebrated the event in other ways over the years but wanted to mark this occasion differently.Ā Ā  We were discussing our various options for dessert parties, private dining, and cruises when a very ā€œGrandā€ idea popped into our heads.Ā Ā  As Disney Vacation Club Members at Bay Lake Tower, we had always wanted a reason to stay in a villa with a Magic Kingdom view.Ā  We thought what better reason than our anniversary to book a Three Bedroom Grand Villa and invite our friends and family to join us.

The real planning began with a phone call to conventions at The Contemporary Resort and I was met with very helpful cast member who quickly directed me to Randy Ramos at Contemporary Private Dining. Randy was extremely helpful and a pleasure to work with while planning our anniversary.Ā Ā  We emailed and spoke for several months leading up to our July trip.Ā  He would often email me late at night when I had questions regarding the menu.

Ā I explained that we wanted private dining to cater an event in our room, for around 20 guests. We would be inviting our guests to our room to watch Wishes, as a sort of in house fireworks viewing. Randy emailed menus back and forth to me and in the end we created a customized menu based on what we wanted to serve and what was in our budget. It was very easy to plan and the catering team was very accommodating.

Our Menu :
Hamburger sliders
Cheeseburger sliders
Hot wings
Chicken fingers
Cesar salad
French fries
Sweet potato fries
Onion rings
Pizzas
Cookie Platter

On the day of our event, Randy and his team met us in the room, to discuss set up of the food.Ā  It was all together very professional and they really made us feel like our event was special.Ā  An hour before our guests arrived, catering came to set-up the villa.Ā  We were shocked by the level, to which they set up the space.Ā  We had only expected the food to be delivered to the room.Ā  The catering team brought in a buffet table, special linens, serving platters and utensils, candles and other decorative elements.Ā  The food was delivered and set up and at the end of the evening the team arrived again to clean up for us.

We were really pleased with the private event team and highly recommend them. The pricing and food were reasonable and the quality of the food was excellent.

Hosting our event in our villa meant that we saved a great deal of money.Ā  Having planned other anniversary events in the past, this was by far the cheapest alternative. We had no viewing fees, site fees, or special delivery fees that are often associated with in park events.Ā  Most importantly we were under no time restraint. It was our room and we could hang out and relax for as long as we wanted with our guests. It was really nice to sit back and watch Wishes from our living room, with our friends and family, and not have to fight any crowds to leave a park at the end of the night.

Featured Venue Fridays: Wedding Gazebo at Yacht Club

This week’s Featured Venue post is written by Disneymooner Geneva. Images are from Egomedia Photography. To read her wedding recaps and find out more exciting details please visit our private forums.
My husband and I both enjoy being outdoors, so an outside ceremony made perfect sense. There were several options available which could easily accommodate our guest count and uminimalist theming. Disney’s Yacht Club, however, spoke to us in a way no other venue could. Ā There were several nearby reception & dessert party options. There was very little need, if any, for additional decoration. Ā The resort theme tied in our mutual love of the water and worked extremely well with our colors (navy blue, sage green, and stark white). Ā There were many photo-friendly locations as well.
One of the fabulous aspects of this venue is that you can dress it up or down according to your taste. Ā The gazebo looks amazing either way. Ā I’ve seen flower balls onĀ Shepard’sĀ hooks adorning the aisle. Ā You could put a swag of flowers across the entry. Ā You can dress up an altar table. Ā Use as much or as little floral as you want which can translate into big spending or savings as the case may be. Ā One item of note: we didn’t have a sand or candle ceremony component to our wedding, but it seems that you might want to do this on the lawn to the left or right of the gazebo or possibly use a slightly higher table or your guests might not be able to see what you’re doing.
You can have music, live on the lawn or using a CD player as we did. Ā Be sure to verify your disc(s) performance prior to the ceremony! Ā Be prepared to have strangers watch you as you marry your prince or princess, but don’t expect to notice until you watch your video. Ā šŸ™‚
Here’s what other Disneymooners are saying about the Yacht Club Gazebo on our forums. Be sure to join in the planning fun!

DFTW Update: Booking a Disney Wedding?

Ā

Are you looking to book a Disney wedding?Ā  If so you may, like me, have been confused lately on the current policyĀ regarding when you canĀ Ā contact the DisneyĀ Fairytale Weddings Department about planning and booking a wedding at Walt Disney World.Ā  I therefore contacted them direct and was told:

For Wishes Weddings, future Disney BridesĀ can only call Disney Fairytale Weddings (DFTW)Ā 16 months out, if you call before this date they will ask you to call back.Ā  I myself wasn’t aware of this new policy but apparentlyĀ it changed at the same timeĀ Disney changed the booking and contracting timeframe to 12 months.Ā

For Escape weddings you can call 12 months in advance with bookings made an 8 months in advance.Ā

Is this a timeframe you can work with?Ā We would be interested to hear fromĀ future Disney Brides what youĀ think either hereĀ on our blog or on our forums.
